Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. has announced the details of the 2006 World Series of Poker (WSOP) program featuring 44 different events. The WSOP will once again take place at its Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino for the second year in a consecutive fashion. With Satellites and live action will taking off on June 25, 2006, the WSOP's major draw, won't start until July 28, 2006.
Participation & Eligibility
To be able to qualify for the main event, you will have to play in one of four different Day 1 events due to the large number of participation. If you are fortunate to make it through Day 1, pull up your socks for one of two, Day 2 rounds will eliminate the number of players to 1400.
It was learnt from Harrah's vice president of sports and entertainment marketing, Jeffery Pollack that, the World Series of Poker is the most high-status poker tournament and every poker aficionado is invited to enter and participate in this long-established tradition."
The 2005 WSOP set new standards for live poker tournaments with regards to prize money and level of participation. The built up hopes for this year also continue to soar high as poker has been persistent in its worldwide growth. There is more to look forward to at the event, like the Second Annual WSOP Lifestyle Show from July 27 through July 30 that displays poker wares, websites, books, and clothing.
