Glamorous beautiful women have always been a feature of Vegas. So it comes as no surprise that Hooters, the company famous for its busty waitresses has opened its first Las Vegas casino. What started off as a tongue-in-cheek chicken restaurant has grown into a global brand and has taken over the Hotel San Remo just off the Strip.
The 696-room property with nine restaurant/bars is a revamp of the Hotel San Remo and, despite its makeover, remains a midget compared with the 5,035-room MGM Grand across the street on a corner of the Strip that offers 14,000 hotel rooms. The Hooters customer is already a Vegas kind of customer. They're a little punky, they're a little high energy, they're looking for a getaway — and all of those things just match up," said Ed Droste, one of the founders of Hooters. It looks like a perfect fit for their existing clientelle - blue collar young and slightly tacky. The San Remo has been relatively quiet over the past few years and this complete rebrand is sure to get a lot more people through the doors. Many commnetators have suggested that this down market, unrefined approach might be exactly what Vegas punters are looking for. Only time will tell. Back to Latest Casino News |
