Las Vegas Prepares For Online Casinos
Over the next few weeks, government legislators and gambling officials in the state of Nevada are drafting rules for online gambling. When the federal government finally gives the go-ahead, the state wants to be prepared.
Las Vegas is already the national gambling capital of the United States, so it is only natural that Nevada gets a head start in the online casino industry. According to several reports, Nevada’s Gaming Control Board is creating new laws that would govern the land-based casino world in the case that the federal government decides to regulate online gambling. The legislation would then give Nevada the approval they need to legally providing online casino games over the internet.
Right now, Nevada wants to ensure that its gambling laws are updated and consistent with modern attitudes towards the activity. The Gaming Control Board wants to guarantee that the same laws that apply to land-based casinos would also apply to online casinos, thus revising older laws that may be out-of-date. Ideally, the board wants to ensure that all parties involved in online gambling would be protected, from the player, to the employees, to the operator.
The board also wants to take a look at advertising laws. There are strict rules for advertising gambling in Las Vegas and throughout the rest of the state, but online casinos still continue to lie within a grey area.
