Playtech Prepares to Enter American Market with New Joint Venture
The prospect of the opening of the American online gambling market gets more optimistic each day. As a result, an increasing number of casino operators and software developers have set their sights on the market, making practical business decisions that will put them in an opportune position to enter the American market when the government finally legalizes online gambling.
PlayTech is one of these forward-thinking developers, having just signed a deal with Scientific Games in an attempt to target international lottery operators. Scientific Games already works with 120 clients around the world, including the Chinese State Lottery and the UK National Lottery. Under the name SciPlay, the joint venture would combine PlayTech B2B online gambling software with Scientific Games’ government-friendly reputation.
“We have highly complementary skill-sets allied with a global reach and this partnership provides the opportunity to leverage off this combined know-how to maximum effect”, said CEOs Mor Weizer and Mike Chambrello.
The partnership is a very strategic one, as it puts PlayTech in the position to get closer to the American market well before the online gambling ban is abolished. Scientific Games already provides the US market with lottery systems, an affiliation that will put PlayTech in a favourable light. With Scientific Game’s existing client pool and PlayTech’s innovative software, this partnership is sure to be a success.
